My great-grandmother's address was 410 Washington Street, Portland when she died in Sept. 1898. When she died, her 4 children were orphaned and the German Aid Society determined that W. T. Gardner, Supt. of Boys and Girls Aid Society, was a "suitable" person to be appointed as guardian. In 1899 another guardian was appointed for the oldest son. In 1903 it was reported that the youngest daughter (my grandmother) was in an excellent home and was well cared for. My questions are: On Census, 410 Washington St. would be in what precinct? How can I find more information about the German Aid Society. Where would I find information about the guardians of these children? Thank you for any help you can give me. Edel
