Surnames: McLauglin, Rings, Wonder, Pinkerton, Albright, Larsen Evalyn McLaughlin, 89, formerly of The Dalles, died Monday, July 1, 2002 at her home in Salem (Oregon). She was born in Holton, Kansas, April 20, 1913 to Harry C. and Nancy Rings. She was raised in Kansas City, where she met and married Elmer G. "Mac" McLaughlin on October 31, 1932. They were married 65 years. Elmer died in 1976, she then moved to Salem to live with her son and his family. She was a dedicated homemaker and mother; a longtime volunteer at Encino Presbyterian Church and at Valley Presbyterian Hospital in Southern California. She was a member of Gateway Presbyterian Church in The Dalles since 1985. Her interests were her family, church, bridge, fishing vacations, and especially her little Yorkie (dog) "Bubbles". Evalyn is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Wonder; son John and daughter-in-law/caregiver Laureen McLaughlin; grandchildren M. Marie Pinkerton, McMinnville (Oregon), John E. and Meghan McLaughlin of Salem. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. Also her nephew Dr. Reed Rings and his wife Margaret Ann and their family of Ohio, her nieces Kaye Albright and family of Dallas, Texas and Judy Larsen and family of Toronto, Canada. Services will be at Spencer, Libby and Powell, The Dalles on Wednesday, July 3, with Reverend James Hazlett officiating. She will be buried beside her husband at the IOOF Cemetery, The Dalles. Memorial contributions may be made to Willamette Valley Hospice or Gateway Presbyterian Church.
