I am researching my Casner/Carsner family that arrived in Oregon in 1852. The family consited of the mother, Jincy Jane Casner, her eleven sons and one daughter. The last name is often spelled Carsner - sometimes it is spelled both ways on one document. Two sons (William and Daniel) mined a fortune in the CA gold fields; they shared their wealth with the rest of the family; they were eventually murdered in 1876 in west Texas. One of these two married in CA and left a wife and son; descendants remain to date in CA but spell the name Carsoner. The only daughter, Nancy Jane 'Jo' married into the Fields family. Descendants remain in OR to date. There was a split in the family in late 1874 and the mother, five sons, 2 grown grandsons move to AZ. They spell the name Casner. There are extensive living descendnats of these. The mother, Jincy Jane Casner, and two sons, Riley and Moses, settle in the Yavapai County area of AZ. One son (Henry) is believed to have been killed in OR in 1865 (I am working on evidence of this). One son (Jonas) dies in 1864 in OR but leaves many descendants. Another son (Andrew or A.J.) lived in the OR/WA area; many descendants. Another son (James) simply disappears after 1883; he married once in Linn Co and once in Grant Co. Two sons (Ebenezer and Benjamin) died in IA before the family migrated to OR. The oldest son (John) roves through the west after the family's move to AZ and is thought to have died in NM or TX (he was one wild man). I have collected extensive information on this very illustrous family and am in contact with many descendants but still have a few gaps in the information. I would like to communicate with anyone who might have connections to the line (if you are connected, you will know it). Those that remained in the pacific northwest spell the name Carsner. Those that migrated to AZ and elsewhere spell the name Casner. Allied familes are Freel, Parkinson, Kisor, Combs, Olney, Hayworth, Fields, Robinson, Frakes, Dunn, Reeves, Officer, Frizzel to mention a few.
