Hello I am looking for either advice or a lookup. Henry ATTEBERRY was born January 26, 1911, to Mae BLALOCK and John ATTEBERRY. Other children were born as well and I don't know of them. John left when the children were young and left was to raise the children on her own. It is known that Henry was born in Oregon, but, it is not for sure where in OR. Henry died in Newberg, Yamhill, OR 1958. It is also believed John ATTEBERRY was born abt. 1888/89 in Missouri or a small, but not valuable source would say John was born in Texas. It is believed but not proven that this John ATTEBERRY could be my grandfather. A John ATTEBERRY married my grandmother Lenore IRMLER nee JEFFERS and left her as well. John and my grandmother had 3 children together, one of which was my mother. When grandma went to file for divorce it was discovered that her marriage was never legal and John had been charged for Polygamy ONLY 1 yr prior to his marriage to Lenore. In court papers from microfilm it states he had a wife and children when he married Mable VanMeter, and his parents resided in Springfield MO. The charges filed Mable VANMETER for polygamy against John ATTEBERRY were in 1927. --- Sandy B.
