Surnames: Marcum, Wiltz, Adams, Huntington, Ward, Ashley, Duree, LaFaver, Colton, Holtrop, Ballard, Ware, Anderson, Ashley Beverly Rae Marcum, 78, a resident of The Dalles, died Tuesday, August 6, 2002, at a local care center. She was born April 10, 1924, in Okanogan, Washington to Roy and Mabel (Wiltz) Adams and grew up in Kinzua (Oregon). Following her graduation from Fossil (Oregon) High School in 1942 she married Jesse M. Marcum on December 6, 1943 in Kinzua. They moved to Tygh Valley (Oregon) in 1951 and to Maupin (Oregon) in 1971. She was a stay-at-home mom. She enjoyed baking, canning, embroidery and crocheting, painting and various crafts, and was an avid reader. Her favorite pat-time was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She had been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Maupin for many years. She is survived by her children; son, Daniel Marcum, Tygh Valley; daughters and their husbands Sandra and Dusty Huntington, Edmonds, Washington; Colleen and Scott Ward, Dufur (Oregon); and Darlene and Time Ashley, Wamic (Oregon); her sister, Doris Duree, Pine Hollow (Oregon); and eight grandchildren, Denise LaFaver, Atlanta, Georgia; Brook Colton, Helena, Montana; Shannon Holtrop, Spokane (Washington); Heather Ballard and Jason Ware, Hermiston (Oregon); Travis Anderson, Loma Linda, California; and Sara Ware and Kyle Ashley, Wamic; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jess. Graveside services at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in The Dalles will be private for the family.
