    3. Surnames: Jones, Whistler, Judy, Duncan, Dill Lynn Duane Jones, 82, died on August 9, 2002. He was born August 6, 1910 in Dallas, Oregon, to Amos George and Maude Lenore Jones. He graduated from Tigard (Oregon) High School in 1930 and attended Oregon Technical Institute. He married Leona Mary Whistler May 29, 1934. They were divorced in 1952. He married Martha (Patty) C. Judy on August 2, 1953. He came to The Dalles in 1951 to install the heating system in the TB (tuberculosis) hospital, now the Columbia Gorge Community College. Upon completion, he worked for the City of The Dalles water department until his son graduated from The Dalles high school. He then moved back to Portland, working for several hospitals in the Portland area, the Oregon shipyard, Franz Bread, Multnomah Hotel, and finishing his career working for the City of Portland at the Civic Auditorium. He enjoyed sports of all kinds and was an active softball participant in The Dalles in the early 1950s. He had a number of humorous hunting stories, but his greatest interest was painting landscapes and ocean scenes. He remembered friends and family with personally painted greeting cards, creating over 100 scenes. He also taught painting at the Oregon Retirement Home and Greg Gainer Foundation for the handicapped. In 2000, he was named Artist of the Year in east Multnomah County and his exploits were written up in the Gresham (Oregon) paper. Survivors include his son David and wife Donna; daughters, Penny Duncan of Corbett (Oregon) and Cindy Dill and her husband Brad of Fairview (Oregon); seven grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Operating Engineer Union, Portland Fine Arts Guild and Rose City Church of the Nazarene. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patty, and son-in-law Jim Duncan.
