    3. 150 Years 1932-1946 The Dalles THE DECADES OF HISTORY PART SIX OF THE DALLES CHRONICLE’S TEN-PART SERIES. July 27, 2007 Front Page BEER IS BACK FOAM OF THE BEER— Kenneth L. Hicks, editor of The Dalles Chronicle, was served the first stein of draught beer in The Dalles this afternoon. The serving made at the restaurant operated by John Adkins was simultaneous with a serving made at Charlie Frank’s place to Pete Peterson, local carpenter. More than 40 laborers were on hand at The Dalles Soda Works this morning then [sic] the first case of the new beer was delivered by Walt Blaser. The case was consigned to the Royal Café. W.J. Seufert, arrived at The Dalles Soda Works this morning with a small tin pail. He maintained it was for “effect.” The Stadelman Ice company beer truck was greeted by cheers as it moved down Second street at 1 p.m. to unload the kegs of draught beer for the waiting public. Three keys were consigned to the Elks club, and three each to Frank’s and Adkins.
