    3. Surnames: Gill, Cornwell, Pfaendler, Kessler Ed Gill, 56, a resident of Grants Pass (Oregon), died at his home on December 16, 2001. He was born July 22, 1945 in Stockton, California. He lived most of his life in Oregon and worked in the printing industry. He served in Vietnam from 1966 to 1968. He married Laurinda Cornwell in Grants Pass on November 23, 1989. He was an avid train enthusiast all of his life and his concern for turtles turned him to rescuing box turtles and tortoises. He also enjoyed spending time at home. Survivors include his wife, Laurinda, Grants Pass; two sons, Scott Gill, Madison, Wisconsin and Michael Gill, Salem (Oregon); his mother, Marilyn Pfaendler and half brothers, Jack and Denver Kessler, all of Cave Junction (Oregon); and grandsons, Anthony and Daniel Gill. He was preceded in death by his younger brother Don Gill, who was also a Vietnam veteran, in 1984. A memorial service was held on Thursday, December 20, at St. John's Lutheran Church with the Reverend Ronald Norris officiating. Memorials may be made to the Grants Pass Humane Society, 429 NW Scenic Drive, Grants Pass, Oregon 97526; Wildlife Images, 11845 Lower River Road, Grants Pass; or a charity for the preservation of turtles or tortoises of the donor's choice.
