    3. In 1752, New Year's Day was changed from March 25th to January 1st. In that year, Great Britain and its American colonies switched calendars from Julian to Gregorian, which eliminated eleven days from September HAPPY NEW YEAR FOLKS I wish you all peace and friendship for the new Year. Dan

    3. But keep in mind, that Gregorian calendar was phased in over many years. The big cities converted pretty fast, but not out in the country. ANY VITAL STATISTIC DATE OLDER THAN 1800 SHOULD BE SUSPECT OF USING THE JULIAN CALENDAR, RATHER THAN THE GREGORIAN CALENDAR WE USE TODAY. That's one reason why there are so many date conflicts. Some people are converting the dates, and some are not. And, sometimes we don't even KNOW what calendar was used, in the case of things like dates recorded in the family Bible. --- Dan M <wb@wvi.com> wrote: > In 1752, New Year's Day was changed from March 25th > to > January 1st. 3. Another aside: Don't believe the dates in the Bible (old testament), such as people living 900+ years. Remember, the calendars they used are not the calendars we use. The Julian calendar wasn't invented until old Julius invented it, about the time of Christ. --- Dan M <wb@wvi.com> wrote: > In 1752, New Year's Day was changed from March 25th > to > January 1st. 1. [OREGON] Wilderville?
    2. Greetings and Best wishes for the New Year, In reading the book Abondon Ship, about the ship U.S.S. Indianapolis, that was sunk July 31st, 1945 between Guam and the Phillipines, they mention a survivor. He was from Oregon, the town of Wilderville. Looking in the atlas, it did not show. Does anyone know where this town is located, or if it exists today? Many thanks, Karla Halsan Mattila chantilly@tdn.com

It isn't very large, but it is still there. Sarajane Storm mailto:sarajstorm@home.com

    3. Am replying to the note below. Why you telling people to not believe thedates in the Bible. Do you have an explanation as to why, and what right do you have to tell people what to believe and what not to believe. That really disturbs me. If the calendars were different then how different and why. If God chose to let them live that long he could have, and they could have. So how long do you believe they lived. Am sending this to everyone because I dont know who else to send it to. My apologies if it shouldnt be on the list, but dont have time for Bible Bashers.
