    1. [OREGON] My Casner Family
    2. Elizabeth Freeman
    3. This will probably will be one of my last posts during 2001. My CASNER family made it's way to Linn Co., OR in 1852 where many of them married before migrating to other places. Most of them 'struck it rich' in the mines in CA and returned to OR. In 1875 about half of them migrated to other places. Jincy Jane (Fields) Casner was the mother of all these children. Her husband, Henry Casner, died in 1847 in IA leaving her with all these children. In 1852 she migrates to Linn Co., OR where she obtains a donation land claim. She dies in 1884 in AZ. (1) John L. Casner (b1822); his wife dies in 1852 on the OR trail leaving him with two infant sons; he dies circa 1900 in TX. (2) Frank Casner (b1823) dies in CA circa 1898 in Kern Co., CA; little is known of him. (3) Benjamin Casner (b1824); he is mentioned in information out of IA and is on one census in OR; still searching for where he dies. (4) William 'Bill' Casner (b1825) never marries; may have been an outlaw in IA and NE; strikes it rich in the CA mines; takes a herf of sheep to TX where he is murdered in 1877 in west TX (5) Ebenezer Casner (b1827) is identified in information out of IA where he was in trouble with the army and the law; still searching for what became of him. (6) Jonas 'James' Carsner (b1827) died 1864 Linn Co., OR; marries in Polk Co., IA; migrates to OR in 1862; dies in OR in 1864. (7) David Casner (b1832) mines in Butte County in 1860; last record found of him there. (8) Andrew Jackson Carsner (b1836) marries in OR; has 13 children; dies in 1890 OR/WA; left many descendants. (9) Daniel 'Dan' Casner (b1837) his life is much the same as that of William 'Bill' Casner; is murdered in west TX in 1877. (10) Moses Casner (b1837) migrates to AZ in 1875 from OR; also struck it rich in the mines in CA; was a miser; married twice; dies in early 1900s in AZ. (11) Nancy Jane Casner (b1839) married Harvey Fields; she died in OR; descendants remain in OR to this date. (12) James 'Jim' A. Casner/Carsner (b1839) marries twice in OR; have yet to find where he dies; have found no children for him. (13) Henry Casner (b1840) is on 1860 census in Linn Co., OR living in the home of his mother; unknown what became of him. (14) Riley Casner (b1843)marries twice; first wife dies; he migrates to AZ in 1875 taking his mother with him; he died in 1900s in AZ; left many descendants. Those that remained in OR for the most part spelled the name CARSNER. Those that migrated on to elsewhere retained the spelling Casner. Would like to hear from other Casner descendants/researchers who could shed some light on anyone in this very large family. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
