Bekkedahl, 81, a resident of Sublimity, Oregon, formerly of Sherman County and Albany (Oregon), died at a care center on Thursday, December 13, 2001. She was born June 28, 1920, in Moro (Oregon), the youngest of three children to Max K. and Emma (Moers) Pluemke. She grew up in Kent (Oregon), where her parents operated the Kent Hotel. She graduated from Kent High School in 1938. She married Allan M. Bekkedahl on July 13, 1968, in Reno, Nevada and he preceded her in death on March 10, 1992. Maxcine worked as a telephone operator and resided in Albany for 46 years. She attended the South Albany Community Church and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, music and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also volunteered for F.I.S.H. of Albany Emergency Services. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Ron and Bonnie Stutzman, Mehama; Paul and Jo Smith, Albany; Kenneth Bekkadahl, Aspen, Colorado; Frank and Deanna Zaniker, The Dalles and Barbara and Marlyn Good, Milton-Freewater (Oregon); 17 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her son, Michael D. Smith, infant daughter, Margaret Smith and her brothers, Albert and Karl Pluemke. Services will be held at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 17. Interment will follow at the Kent Cemetery.
