ALL the genealogy lists have become virus warning lists! Can we please get them back to genealogy?????? Virus warnings were very very seldom seen on the genealogy lists, until lately, and now that is about all the traffic is. Enough already! I feel that as a list owner , it is good listowner service to warn the members what a virus is going to be flying at you . I very much stress the list keep to list business and let the listowner make the one and only message needed to get this done. This is something we as list owners talk about on the virus list and the listowners list, we spend a lot of time dedicated to members.. I run 53 lists , 99 messages boards and I find that when I warn people when I get the warning from my warning subscriptions , many are averted from the virus. Ok I am also a teacher of Outlook Express and help others with my own computer help list Thanks David . I feel the lists are the fastest way to warn people Once warned , take action, we dont need to chat any more than my message , but it can get worse what people start warning others by sending warning to every one in their address book and the lists, this is not required. If you feel genealogy is foremost , you will have a real tussle not being warned and getting the virus . Also here is another warning, if you want data off the net, you better get it ASAP because they are removing a lot of genealogy data from rootsweb. Some is already gone. Robin you have a DEL key . I have an unsub key , please let us as listowners run the lists . I do hope you read every word of the warning, also about badtrans, it packs a big surprise for some unprepared people . Thanks to al those who appreciate the warning - I hope I have prevented a few from getting the virus Dan ----- Original Message ----- From: "Robin Helman" <robinsnest@centurytel.net> To: <OREGON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, December 04, 2001 3:00 PM Subject: Re: [OREGON] List Dad note a new VIRUS ALERT > ALL the genealogy lists have become virus warning lists!
