    3. Maybe rather than just do people, we could do History of certain Oregon Interesting places. I was reading an article at the State library about a town called Matney and Matney flats, Matney post office etc, I want to learn more about places that used to exhist also. Up the Santiam towards Detroit there used to be some places, like Niagra and some others, My dad and family worked a sawmill up there in the 1800's sometime. I just wonder who all could provide some ( Oregon * stories ? I have Matney - Rogers - Cooper - Penrose - Mainly doing Matney, the rest seem to follow, My Dads first marriage was to Silvia Weesley of Scio, our family moved around in those days, Brownsville, Kings Valley, well you know the circuit , people just moved all over the place <G> Dan Matney ----- Original Message ----- From: "Elizabeth Freeman" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, July 11, 2005 8:22 AM Subject: Re: [OREGON] Interesting > Dan: > > Well, sleeping would very well describe many of them. Perhaps many people are like me and they have come up to a brick wall so big they haven't figured out to get beyond it. I subscribe to several hoping I will see something come across of interest. > > I know that there are descendants of my line (the Casner, Carsner, Carsoner) out there and I would love to make contact, but it seems I'm the only one interested at this point. I would love to drive to OR and spend several months just going from county to county and see what I could find, but unfortunately this will not happen. I've done all the 'long distance' research possible. I know there is that one person out there in cyber space somewhere, one day, we will make contact and answer each other's questions. > > Keep up the good work! 3. Stella Bellingham Satern recently wrote and published a book 'The Nehalem River Valley' which tracks the history of the valley and its pioneers from 1850 through 2002. Was published by binford & Mort Publishing, Portland, OR. Though most of you are more interested in the Willamette Valley area I thought this new book might be of interest to some of you.
