    3. Many "New England" families resided for a while in "Upstate New York" before they migrated on to Oregon. Recent Blog activity on our Upstate New York Genealogy website at www.unyg.com has an easy to understand article about DNA testing for genealogical purposes. There is also a Blog about Ephemera for genealogy, and a full description about how to take advantage of all of the features of unyg.com. Tomorrow we will have a year's end review and predictions for 2008. Happy New Year to all of our readers, Dick Hillenbrand. Upstate New York Genealogy www.unyg.com

    3. > Dear Maxine, I'd like to research your story. However, I need as good a date as you can find and a better location. Eastern Oregon is a huge area. While the Oregonion has some Western Oregon and Portland cases indexed it's useless for the larger part of the state. Does anyone have a story about a woman accused of murder prior to the 1930's? That's my primary focus. 3. Just a reminder, You can go to a website, like Yahoo, or MSN and do a people search, or phone lookup. That is usually faster then asking someone. Here is the link for the Yahoo people search: http://people.yahoo.com/ Hope that helps anyone looking for a number. 2. Janice R Freeman
    3. I just came across this family when I checked out DENLEY because my PENLEY family of Maine was mistranscribed in the ancestry.com index as DENLEY in 1900. It is John DENLEY in Portland, OR on the microfilm, but when I saw that he and his parents were all b Maine, I felt I needed to write just in case the name had been written wrong on the page that was microfilmed. Please, if this is indeed a PENLEY family from Maine, contact me. I am researching all PENLEY families of Maine and adding data to update the genealogy that my mother's 3rd cousin, Rev Robert Irving (6) PENLEY 1909 - 1996, compiled during his lifetime. John was 40 and his wife, Mary was age 30. Their ch as listed in the 1900 Census were: Richard 14 John 11 Henry 9 William 7 Florence 10 months Grateful for any additions or corrections. April 27, 2007 Page 7 DRUNKEN BARTENDER TAKES A POT SHOT AT TWO CUSTOMERS ANTELOPE SHOOTING SCRAPE- William Rolfe Attempts to Kill Mart Clancey and R.A. Hansell Last Wednesday night about 10 o'clock Mart Clancey and R.A. Hansell went into the Eureka saloon in Antelope and sat down by the stove. John Little, who was in the saloon at the time, asked Hansell and Clancey to take a drink. One called for port wine and the other for a soda, when Little spoke up and said they should take whiskey or nothing, and they refused to drink. This caused some words between the men, and the two men left the saloon. They looked through the window from the outside, and Little acted as though he would throw a flask of whiskey, which he had in his hand, at them. At this time William Rolfe, the bartender, who was drunk, without any known reason pulled his pistol and fired a shot through the window, which barely missed the two men standing in the window, and knocked the glass in their faces. Shortly afterwards the men started home, when three shots were fired at them. Rolfe afterwards told Clancey that he thought that Hansell was standing at the window alone, and that he would not have fired if he had known that Clancey was there. These were all the particulars that could be learned. Rolfe has not yet been arrested, but there are rumors afloat that he made threats against Hansell's life, and he may be taken into custody and punished for his rash act.
