URGENT REQUEST!: Now that we are over the holidays, This years is our 350th Anniversary of the landing of the Swartwout family in North America. The name has many variations such as Swarthout, Swartout, Swartwood, Swathwood, Swarthwood etc. We need help in gather lines, pictures, articles, wills, what ever you have stashed in your attic. We would really appreciated it if you shared with us what you had, there a literally thousands of us here looking for our roots, looking for connections. For our 350th Anniversary we need to updated our list of folks out there that are descendants somewhere along the line of any of those variations. We also have a family newsletter that cost only $5.00 per year, a real bargain. Just send it your mailing address. Every day I get e-mail asking me for help. Up here in Canada, there were two brothers that had huge families, all the remains of their descendants are the female sides. All the male went back to the States. I'm am the maintainer of "The Updated Swartwout Chronicles" People submit their lines-ged-coms etc. and I just drop them into the data base. It is everyone's database. Each person is responsible for their own submissions. It is not copyrighted. Kathy kathyhoeldke@sympatico.ca ldyk@hotmail.ca
The problem is in the Javascript. It would make it simpler, and everyone, regardless of browser, could easily read it if it was all done in plain text, without bells and whistles. In the Sacred Heart listing, we read part of it fine, but part of it is not showing without moving the mouse over and highlighting it. We are using Netscape 4.7 We upgraded to 6, but were not happy with it. How about plain old fashioned black on white text? We usually try and turn Java off to eliminate the Pop-ups, expecially on Geocities sites. JMHO Robin At 12:15 AM 1/18/02 -0700, you wrote: >absolute nothing wrong with my settings. David, The text is white and the links are silver with white mouseovers. Other people are able to see the names of the cemeteries just fine. Perhaps it is because of the CSS Script for the mouseovers. Do you have an older browser? I'm not sure why there is a problem there. -Katie >>> Katie, the names of cemeteries are not visible because they are black in color- same as background. You need to reverse the color for fonts. A Lookup please and a photo copy of marriage record for Alexander Jacob Berry b. Dec. 18 1862 in Springfield Ill. married Anna M. Maccaan in 1901 in Portland. She was born mar. 13, 1872 in Detroit Mich.. Her parents Jon MacCaan and Anna M. Conway Thanks Linda in Calif. lline714@aol.com Sorry last time I forgot to send e-mail address Would be glad to mail for photo copy or if you can e-mail it all the better.
Sharon, I'd always wondered what was done with the dollars, pennies and dimes that I send them. Glad to hear it ... that it goes to something related, and not just back into a general fund. Another thing I appreciate about them, when the bill starts to get higher .... like with a probate, committment, or divorce record, they will let you know how much the whole thing would cost. I remember once telling them I didn't need the entire $40 worth, just pick out the best genealogical $20 worth. All E-mail - less than 24 hours turn around time .... There are some very positive things about their system. you didn't fix them This is what I see with the black background: Bethany, Marion County, Oregon Gervais, Marion County, Oregon Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon Gervais, Marion County, Oregon Skunkville aka Labish Center Cemetery Brooks, Marion County, Oregon Gervais, Marion County, Oregon St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery Silverton, Marion County, Oregon See if you can find: Bethany Pioneer Cemetery Gervais Masonic Cemetery Rose City Cemetery Sacred Heart Cemetery St. Louis Cemetery St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery Why not? - the text of those ones are in black, same color as background. I am very much interested in St. Louis Cemetery (It's a Catholic Cemetery, one of the earliest.) Gloria: I found 13 Mary Wilson's in my Death Index. This Index on my web site is only completed through 1920 for the "W's". It may be one of these. If you want to search for yourself it is FREE at: www.OregonHistory.com We are still working on the rest of the index but there are about 100,000 names to date. Below is a list of the one's in the database thus far. The death index starts in 1903 and it isn't very good for that first year or two. There is a Portland death index prior to that and the State Archives has it online. Wilson, Mary V January 24, 1918 Umatilla 19 Wilson, Mary Josephin September 5, 1917 Grant 32 Wilson, Mary Jane February 6, 1910 Douglas 347 Wilson, Mary Jane February 23, 1907 Lane 2920 Wilson, Mary J October 25, 1914 Lane 2608 Wilson, Mary J September 4, 1919 Multnomah 182 Wilson, Mary Elizabeth January 6, 1919 Washington 6 Wilson, Mary February 10, 1906 Jackson 686 Wilson, Mary January 23, 1904 Douglas 71 Wilson, Mary December 31, 1917 Douglas 216 Wilson, Mary Battin June 19, 1911 Marion 1798 Wilson, Mary Allen August 3, 1919 Coos 129 Wilson, Mary A November 12, 1910 Linn 3535 As far as a marriage index. There is an index from 1906 through 1924. Then there is a break of 25 years that the state didn't create an index and then it starts at 1950 again. There is a friend of mine that is thinking about doing the index during that 25 yr break but it hasn't happened yet. Hope the above helps on the death issue for Mary Wilson.
