    1. [OREGON] Can you help identify these pictures.
    2. Janine M. Bork
    3. I received this e-mail the other day. It sounds like quite a project. I'll enclose the e-mail I received. If any of you could take a look at the website and see if you can identify the pictures, I know it would be appreciated by Richard. It sounds like a real labor of love. Richard has given his permission to post this on the two Oregon lists. Janine ************************************************************ Oregon Date: Wed, 27 Feb 2002 22:42:33 -0800 From: "C. Richard Matthews" <crmatthews@tcnet.net> To: borks@aracnet.com I have a web site called unknownpic that I'm putting old photos on some are identified and most aren't I have just added one of a parade in Albany Oregon in 1898 I don't know what county that is but if you would let the person that covers that county know perhaps they would like to copy it and maybe identify some of the others. These were taken on glass plate negatives that belong to a Doctor here in KY. He traveled through the west in 1898 taking photos and the 200 I have where in a barn and it looked like over a thousand were broke I save these and think they would be of interest to people doing genealogy maybe some of their family. I just add 10 per month as that is all I can afford to have printed due to cost. "http://www.tcnet.net/unknownpic"

However, some one told me once that they got a message whenever I wrote, that said did they want to download some program in order to read Arabic. This is because I live in Syria, and though I only write in English, because it is the only language I know, my computor program can be switched to Arabic if you choose to do so. My Computor program in Windows and has Arabic Enhancement, though I have never used it. However, you do not have to download anything to read my messages. 2. Lilly
    3. I am researching Lavera Middlebrook Peltier. She is the d/o Edward Noble Middlebrook b. 1863 NY. and Effie N. Greenlee b. 1869 MD. Her parents were both raised in Corydon, IA. About 1887 the Middlebrook family took the Oregon Trail. Lavera born about 1900 in La Grande ,OR. She had siblings: Iris, Frances, and Edward Jr. Lavera married E.P. Peltier in Oregon prior to 1922, and then relocated to Santa Barbara with her entire family. Her husband operated a restaurant there known by his name. However, as of 1937 Lavera Peltier had moved back to reside in Ashland, OR. If anyone is researching the Peltier family of Oregon I would love to give you information on this family. I also have information on Soloman Peltier in Spokane Co., Washington Territory as of 1860, which may be one of the earliest Peltier's to the area. Lillian Kathleen Martin.

    3. Hi Lilly, I had three great-uncles from Portland who served in WWI. The one who went in the Army was shipped east. He (and the rest of C Co.) lived at Ft. Myer, Virginia, and trained in Maryland. The Oregon State Archives search engine has a record of enlistment in 1917 for Charles E. Leach. Could he be your grandfather?
