Cemetery Friends of the family are invited to attend. Edwin Harbin Prineville, Oct 17 (Special) -- Funeral services were held yesterday for Edwin Harbin, 77, pioneer of 1890 in Crook County and native of Oregon. Owner of the first planing mill and first machine shop in Prineville, he played a prominent part in the growth of Prineville in his younger days. In the smallpox epidemic of the '90s he was nurse, messenger and jailer to the sick and undertaker and sexton to those who died. He is the last of the Harbins in Oregon, being survived only by a niece, Mrs Almyra Whitney Kinney of Portland. He was never married. Harbin was born at Halsey February 6, 1860 ________________________________________ Death of Mrs. Harbin Mrs. E.V. Harbin died Monday at Prineville, age 96. Almira Burton was born in Kentucky, February 10, 1818; Was married to E.V. Harbin October 5, 1843; crossed the plains with her husband and four children in 1853; settled in Linn County in 1862. While hunting Mr. Harbin was mistaken for a deer and killed by a neighbor. In 1890 she and her two youngest sons moved to Prineville where she has since resided with her son, Edward. She had six children - Martha Mixon, Mary McMeeker, Nancy Whitney, all deceased; Abel Harbin, last heard from in California; James Harbin, Waterloo, Oregon, and Edward Harbin of this City. She was buried Tuesday. In regard to your inquire: Edward HARBIN was never married. Yes we found an obituary but it says Edwin Harbin. This man was called Ed or Edwin and not Edward. The date matches and other information but no Edward. We have the obit of Almira also. In Almira obit he is listed as Edward. **************Start the year off right. Easy ways to stay in shape.
