Hi Lisa! I know of a Waaness on Burray - owner is Alan Wallbank, a bit of a history buff. They have a website, I think it is www.waaness.com or just do a search. He has all the ordinance maps, new & old, was able to find our family's original property on Burray, "Gallowhill." By the way, I did find very creative spelling by some of the census takers in the 1800s - so see if the same people go from year to year (ie 1841, 1851, 1861 etc) regardless of the spelling of the property. I got some help there from the family history center in Kirkwall. They knew the locations pretty well. Cheers - Charlie in Port Townsend
