>>>Nothing really. Kist burials are *very* common. They are recorded thoroughly and that's about it. ... and as far as I know, they are "dotted" all around, "spread over the ladscape", like "burried, where the dead bodies were found" ... or are there new research results showing specific burrial "grounds" or "areas" for the time in question ... ? That brings me up to another question: I have some very simply produced records of ancient monuments in Orkney (a little more than photocopies, providing a map and rough decriptions with a grey cover sheet) most of them (may be all) put together by Dr. Lamb during the 1980es (? sorry, I'm not sitting at my desk) ... are there any updates available ??? thx Wolfgang

I know the document you mean. But unfortunately there are no updates to it. I suspect it was a pet project of Raymon Lamb's when he was county archaeologist. -- Sigurd Towrie Blackhall - Kirbister - Stromness - Orkney Heritage of Orkney: www.orkneyjar.com Home: sigurd@orkneyjar.com Work: sigurd.towrie@orcadian.co.uk
