Well there were similar clearances in Orkney (Quendale/Rousay or Shapinsay) but with regard to the things that happened on Scotland mainland there were no such things as "Driven out by fire and flame / From land that bore their father's name ..." [probably reflecting the 'Sutherland burnings'] According to "The Crofters' War" the Napier Reports "critizied" the developments on Rousay as (my words) minor events but highlighted as positive examples the "Balfour approach" and the developments on Shapinsay. ... but Sigurd should know better :-)
