Incidentally, I don't think the bird carver man is still carving. I went into the gallery last September thinking that I might buy a bird carving but there were none for sale. Possibly I was just too late in the season and he'd sold out, but I got the impression that he'd moved on to painting rather than carving. I didn't actually speak to him, though; it was Lesley his partner (?) that I saw. A very pleasant woman, I thought.
