Just a nice September breeze

Bruce (and and any other list members in rural areas of Orkney) - any news on post office closures? Our Graemsay sub-post office is under threat. We have been told we are a bordeline case, but may scrape through because we are on an island. I doubt we have a very strong case for fighting this closure as little actual business is now done via the post office. Most of my work now comes via broadband access, instead of post, many of us pay our bills online or via direct debit. Pensions and other "benefits" are paid direct into bank accounts. It would be a shame to lose the service and would cause some inconvenience for those of us sending parcels etc which need to be weighed, special delivery etc as it will mean a trip over to Stromness, but as I say I doubt our level of usage will work in our favour to try and keep it open. I wondered how other areas were faring. Sian
