In some years family members living at home who are working as well as tennants and boarders living in the house are often included in the City directories contrary to what the Ask a Librarian said. At the front of some of the directories there is even an abbreviation code for those type of entries. Also the names listed are not always the owners rather then renters of the house. To determine that - you have to check the property records - which is a whole other story!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cheers! J. Many years ago when I helped list people at various addresses in the City of Toronto, all residents living in the house were listed along with their occupation which was listed in the pink section of the directory.
