    3. I guess I've been fortunate. I emailed the county cemetery supervisor for a county cemetery where I knew (and or guessed) where a significant portion of one of my families was buried, some without headstones. She was fabulous! Within 2 weeks she sent me an extraction from the county records - I had a list of all cemeteries with family members in them; I had plot sizes and dates, and she even pulled me all birth records she had that might be related. Believe me, I made a donation to that county for cemetery maintenance and refurbishment. Marcia Kennedy in Guelph

    3. Hi Marsha - I have had wonderful cooperation from some Cemeteries - they went out of their way - to be helpful - and even called long distance - to see if there was anything else they could do. In Ontario - we could not find a death Registration - were even told that perhaps the person was still living - We knew the date and place of death -Just wanted the reg for our 100 year family reunion - I didn't know the name of the cemetery or the funeral home - but took a chance - looking through out of town telephone books [no computer at that time]. Was contacted by a funeral home who had taken over from the original - They also contacted the cemetery. A big surprise when a very nice letter - complete with photographs of the burial site and surrounding area - a plus - they had placed flowers on the grave. * with the info /photo's I was also able to obtain the Registration of death [another ] $26 at that time They also found another death & burial of a family member - and included photo's etc Was surprised to see that the casket - came all the way from British Columbia. 2 other cemeteries / and Funeral homes - were equally as kind - one in Alberta - one in BC - one not a major city. Other cemeteries now owned by the larger groups - may be more cautious . concerned about Privacy etc. After my mother passed away - I was very eager to help others - with their genealogy research - barriers were sometimes erected - at some cemeteries making some requests almost impossible - At 02:19 PM 25/02/2012, you wrote: >I guess I've been fortunate. 3. Re Cemeteries I have visited cemeteries here in Ontario. What we have been told is that they will not give you the details on "the Smiths" buried there. What they will do is give you details on your uncle John Q Smith, and his wife Jane Green. So I guess it depends on the employee you encounter, as they all seem to interpret the privacy act differently. Kathie Fortner

    3. Excellent point Kathie ... and so very true. It can all depend on how you ask, and sometimes literally who you ask ... So, always good to check back a few months later and someone eflse might be able to help you out ... Cheers! J.
