    3. Hi Sherry, What type of records are you looking for- vitals or census or what? Sometimes if I go directly to the UK Ancestry (http://ancestry.co.uk) I have better luck with most things, but for vitals certs you do have to pay usually and the sites are usually the Record Offices for that county. The most I have paid is about 15/16 dollars, but I guess it depends on the site or record office. Dawn

    3. Hi Dawn, have found registration record of a death, but it is just that, a registration, doesnt include all of the information. I will try the UK version of ancestry, may have a little more luck. Just starting the research on my Grandmothers family, she was a home child, sent to Canada in 1910. I have most of her info from Barnardo's, but I am just beginning to fill in the rest of the blanks. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. 3. hi Sherry, I have numerous certificates from Britain, they now cost 9.25 pounds each, having recently gone up...ordered from Gov site: GENERAL REGISTER OFFICE...most genealogy sites just have indexes..I am a subscriber to Findmypast which like Ancestry has indexes of UK BMD...sometimes Familysearch has a bit more info with these. The indexes allow one to enter in the relevant data to obtain the correct certificate. It really is worth spending the money if you cant get the information any other way. they can be ordered online and paid by credit card; I have never had any problem with this..have literally dozens! and they come very speedily too! UK BMD records are great...one can order even quite recent ones...especially deaths up to just a few years ago. If I can help, just ask, liz of BC On Feb 24, 2012, at 12:16 PM, john thomas wrote: > Hi Dawn, have found registration record of a death, but it is just > that, a > registration, doesnt include all of the information. 3. Hi Dawn and Sherry: Certs from any county records office in UK are only £7 - the £ is about 1.60 Canadian right now - not expensive if you only need one or two.
