I understand your frustration at not getting list mail BUT..... The list Dos and Dont's, as well as the welcome message you got when you subscribed, state "NO TEST MESSAGES" Test messages glitch up Rootsweb servers. There's no point to them. My LIST ADMIN NOTICES which I send to the list periodically, address this concern. PLEASE do not post ANY technical messages, cries for help or test message to the list. Here's another reminder on what to do if you aren't getting list mail List Admin Tid Bits ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The most common problems that subscribers write about is --- Not getting list mail or not sure if your posts are getting through to the list ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Not getting your list mail? Not sure if your posts are making it to the list? No sense writing to the list about it. **FIRST**** visit the ROOTSWEB HELP DESK for notices about Rootsweb problems. http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com There's no sense flooding the list with messages about list problems (all that mail will end up being held til the problem is solved, then it will all be posted to the list!), or you personally not getting all your list mail. Check FIRST to see if the problem is noted on the HelpDesk page. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ***SECOND**** Check the list archives! Are current messages there? You can find out if your messages made it, or if others made it so you will know if the problem is at your end or is wide-spread Don't remember where the list archives are? Go to the page for this list at http://olivetreegenealogy.com/lists/maillists.shtml and scroll down to ONTARIO LIST then click on the link for the Rootsweb list page. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ***THIRD**** Write to me, NOT the list, for help. Write to me if you need help and your problem isn't solved any other way. Please make your message brief, but clear, tell me what list you're talking about (I'm an admin for almost 30, and if you dont' tell me which one you're talking about, I can't help you), tell me exactly what the problem is and what you've done to try to solve it. Forgot my email address? The easiest way to get it is to go to http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/intl/CAN/ONTARIO.html and scroll down to "For questions about this list, contact the list administrator at ONTARIO-admin@rootsweb.com " ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ These List Admin notices are my only way of giving you a heads up of important issues or reminders of the list rules. So please take a few seconds to read them when I post them. Thanks! Then how is anyone to know if their mail is getting on the list? Why is Spam allowed as Subject? Why is different list so different? One Cooking is Genealogy one Your message is checked by an English Professor and if you message is not correct {repeated word or phrase] you are asked to rewrite the message. There are message boards that I have not seen any messages posted. How do you find out if these message boards are actrive or still exist? Then do we need two Ontario mailing Lists? One for genealogy and one for Genealogy and technical help and Genealogy Software and to see if there is a surname in Ontario? There is a Delete button if some one doesn't want this message. I delete 99.99 messages because these messages are not in my line. I have seen Test messages liven up a board.
