    1. Re: [ONTARIO] Adoption records in Ontario are sealed - again!
    2. Thanks Fran for putting it out on the table. My son is adopted and at eighteen he had the right to put his name on the list to contact his birth parents IF they had their names on the list. He didn't do it until he was 25 and heard immediately. He had contact and then it didn't work out. He found there is no bond just because you give birth. BUT IT IS HIS BUSINESS NOT ANYONE ELSE'S. Also when we adopted him his name turned to a number and that is all that went through court to change his name to ours. We were also assured we were the ones that had the right to decide when to tell him. I don't agree with those papers ever becoming open to the public. I'm sorry if your great grandfather was adopted, your right to a family tree doesn't supercede someone's life. 3. I was with my birth family for the first year, then given up. I am now almost 56, at 38 I located my birth family. I had a copy of the adoption record. Also in Ohio you can get the records, but you have to send documentation to prove who you are. So it has to be the adoptee to get the record. That is the way it should be. I have had a very successful reunion with my birth family. I was raised an only child and found that I had six siblings. To be able to have a sister in my life changed me. Even if it doesn't work out, at least some of your questions have been answered. Not all reunions are bad. I went to search because I needed medical info. As we get older we start to experience medical problems. IF anyone is interested in talking about adoption please email me off list since this isn't an adoption list! deb in MI. -----Original Message----- From: ontario-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:ontario-bounces@rootsweb.com]On Behalf Of PALarge@aol.com Sent: Friday, September 21, 2007 8:57 PM To: ontario@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [ONTARIO] Adoption records in Ontario are sealed - again!
