Well I did a quick check on my CD and came up with a William Kidder of NY who in 1790 was given 200 acres of land at Sable River Nova Scotia. Then there is Reuben Kidder of New Ipswich New Hampshire who there is a little biography on. You also say they migrated to NWT but no dates. If it was ca 1890s they possibly went on the Klondike Gold Rush. Canada is huge and 100 years ago there were reasons for going to specific areas. If you'd like to give some timeline there is probably someone on the list who could give a reasonable answer.
