Hi Susan: Ontario, Canada Deaths, 1869-1932 -Registration No. 033965 about John Gallagher Name: John Gallagher (Pensioner & Labourer) Death Date: 26 Sep 1872 (age 65 yrs) Death Location: Middlesex Gender: Male Estimated birth year: abt 1807 Birth Location: Kilbourne,Irl Source Citation: Roll: MS935_7. Cause of Death: Debility & age - 4 mos duration Informant: W. Dalton, Staff Sargeant of Pensioners, City Religion of deceased; Roman Catholic .... In the 1881 Canada Census - William Dalton was the Staff Supt of Pensioners. ........ I looked at a site "Paper of Record" and pulled up the London Advertiser for the year 1885. I used "Pensioners" as a search word and after reading several items that took me nowhere, found an article entitled "Sweet Charity" dated December 7, 1885 which refers to the large amount of money required to care for persons in the House of Refuge, the Orphanage, Asylum and the City Hospital and other homes for the needy. I suspect that the key to Mr. Gallagher's location is City Hospital. On the page for the death registration there were other persons who died in the same location with W. Dalton as informant.
