Hello Marcia and fellow listers: Greetings from Toronto, Canada: Since I am recovering from yet another bout of sickness ... I thought I would play around with this one. Just to let you know a little more about the marriage you seek. D.O' in her response was maybe not quiet complete. If I had to hazard a guess, and I have been known to be wrong before, and will be wrong in the future - I imagine that she only checked the on-line index to Marriages for the Province of Ontario via Ancestry.ca That on-line Index (currently) ends at 1922. The marriage you need took place after 35 year old Florence Huelin arrived at the Port of St. John, New Brunswick in 1923, noting that Edward Mourant arrived in the Port of Quebec in 1921 at the age of 29. So the marriage you need is not on-line (yet), but the years you need to have searched are available. The records of marriages for the Province of Ontario are available on microfilm at The Archives of Ontario, and through the LDS Family Centres up to and including 1925. So, if you can get SKS to do an RANGOK (Some Kind Soul to do a Random Act of Genealogical Kindness, and yes there is such an organization) to check the index and the actual registration microfilms I bet you in a couple of days you will have the transcript of the marriage you need - having checked 1923, 1924, and 1925. Please remember that they could have also been married in 1927 before returning to the Channel Islands. In which case you will have to wait until those records become available if you do not want to pay the fee for the registration from the Registrar General's office. Have you also consulted the books by the late [Marion? Turk?] on the Channel Islanders to Canada? Finally there are two Mourant siblings that also got married here in Ontario, both of whom are from The Channel Islands. Edith May Mourant, who says she was born in Guernsey marries in a Toronto suburb in 1922, and her brother Thomas George Mourant who says he was born in Georgetown, Jersey - marries in 1921 in London, Ontario. They are children of George Thomas Mourant and Florence Grey (Domall?, Dumall?). It would be a laugh if Edward was another sibling????? Is Florence Huelin your aunt? Keep us posted, and please let me know personally. Cheers! J.
