    3. Lorine At first I thought it might be the facility that became Thistletown Regional Centre for Children & Adolescents but that was the Queen Mary Hospital for Children and it open 3 June 1913. The Queen Mary Hospital for Tuberculous Children was devoted to the treatment of children with the disease I think what you are looking for is the Victoria Industrial School for Boys opened on May 16, 1887 in the town of Mimico, headed by Superintendent W.J. Hendrie. The school (essentially a juvenile reformatory) emphasized child rescue, reform through character development, moral and academic education, and vocational training. It is now the Mimico Correctional Centre. In 1887 the Government finally approved the Toronto Asylum on Queen Street using part of the "model farm" property at Mimico. The following year 10 patients were sent to live there and practice agriculture. In 1889 they moved into the first "cottage" in what for years has been the Lakeshore Psychiatric Hospital. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mimico_Correctional_Centre Also in 1887 the Government allowed the Victoria Industrial School for bad boys to be located on the "model farm" property to the west of Royal York Road. It had a number of buildings but closed in 1934. In 1918 a branch of the Guelph Reformatory was established on the "model farm". Its facility included a brick and tile factory using shale dug up in an adjacent field. Etobicoke had some gambling dens in the 1930s and 40s and the proprietors when caught were "sent to the brick yards of Mimico" http://www.etobicokehistorical.com/Stories/Sam_Smith/body_sam_smith.html At the AO Victoria <http://ao.minisisinc.com/scripts/mwimain.dll/144/ARCH_DESC_FACT/FACTSDESC/R EFD%2BRG%2B8%2B51%2B6?SESSIONSEARCH> Industrial School - Record of Offenses and Punishments (Sub-Series RG 8-51-6) This microfilm consists of a register of offenses and punishments for the boys at the Victoria Industrial School. It contains daily entries, which include the name of the boy, the initials of the person reporting the infraction, the offense, the punishment, and the number of marks (presumably, a demerit point system). It's in the 1911 census but I can't find a name for the home, just a list of staff and inmates. The head is Chester Ferrier if that is any help. I googled for it but found nothing.
