I am another ONTARIO-L reader based in Britain who is subscribed to Genes Reunited. I joined originally because the subscription fee of around $15 (£7.50) per year was not excessive, given the British cost of living. The service links to other pay-per-view sites which will cost you additional if you link to them. I have no problem with their security policies. Tick or untick the right boxes and your tree will not be available to other individuals unless you choose to share it. Your e-mail address never shows on the website. But, every two weeks you are advised that they have other members with possible links to your tree. Oh joy! Then you go and inspect the list and find that no comparison of places has been done in checking the links, only names and birthyears. With about 200 names in the tree I have given them, I get about 500 possible links every fortnight. Going through these, deleting the impossibles, takes considerable time. I have learned to remove spouses of gg uncles and aunts with common names! I have found matches with the British part of my family tree. I think you have to consider the cost of this program at least for US will be more than double what they state in pounds. I think the last time I had a notice it would have been well over $100. I find also these lists of people with the same name and birth year, but born in different areas of Great Britain, they logically could not be in the same direct line. Alice
