We give up! We need help. My cousin has looked at what we have been told are the correct films and cannot find any reference to this Crown Land Grant/Patent. The land is Concession 8 lots 27 and 28 in Alice Twp., Renfrew County We know that John Roe is listed on the 1861 census and agricultural census for this parcel of land. We know that John Roe is listed on this land in the record book found at Armprior Archives, where the Renfrew Cty. land books are now located. John was on this land until he died in 1907. We know that John Roe is listed as the first name in the books for this land. It says - Patent 4/17/1873 Grantor "Crown" to John Roe So it took at least 12 years to "prove" this land. What we can't find is how to locate the application for the Crown land grant and the subsequent patent. We contacted the archives in Ottawa. They said to look at the films. We have looked at the films we think apply. Can someone please help us out? My cousin is in BC and has access to Cloverdale genealogical center which has most of the land films.
