I don't know if you are in Canada or the states. I was born in the states, Ohio, on my original birth certificate, in the upper right corner it has an A- followed by a number. This number is also on my amended birth certificate. I am assuming the A stands for Adopted. I would suggest calling the city where he was born and find out who issures the birth certificates. They might be able to tell you if there would be any special notation on the birth certificate. Many states do allow the records to be open now. Good luck. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sherri" <genealogy@geneofun.on.ca> To: <ontario@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, November 04, 2007 10:17 PM Subject: [ONTARIO] Adoption - how do you confirm or deny someone was adopted? > > My brother-in-law's grandfather was told by his parents that he was > adopted > but his children think that may have been a lie to cover up pre-marital > "fun".
