    3. Hello Pat: Your email indicates that these persons only travelled between England and Canada. If they did travel to the USA they would not have been required to produce any special documents. Up to about 10 years ago Canadians only had to produce their birth certificate or drivers' license as proof of citizenship and identity. Excerpt from: http://www.rootsweb.com/~canon/research-topic-citizenship.html "British Subjects were those born in England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, parts of Canada (like Ontario), Australia, India and the British West Indies. If your ancestor was born in any of these areas prior to the 20th century (1900), you will NOT find a citizenship or naturalization record if they immigrated to another British colony. " Single women with a child could support themselves by doing domestic work, restaurants, office or factory work. Day Care centres as we know them didn't exist, but there was often another person who was glad of some extra money and would take in a child during the day. Re the burial with deceased first husband. Most of the simpler burial plots (not the huge family ones) are for two or three persons. Once you've paid for that and with only one person interred, you might as well take advantage of that space. Today, because of cremation, some of those small plots will accommodate one or two urns as well. Cheers! Cheers!
