    3. Hi Bonnie: Although you have Charles Arthur McQuarrie born in 1885, the CEF site states that he was born 23 May 1892. I looked up his birth registration in Ancestry.ca and found the following: Ontario, Canada Births, 1869-1907 - Registration No. 010484 about Charles Arthur McQuarrie Name: Charles Arthur McQuarrie Date of Birth: 23 May 1888 Gender: Male Birth County: Grey (Feversham, Div of Osprey) Father's name: John Laughlan McQuarrie Mother's name: Marian Dand Roll Number: MS929_87 ............ Children of John Laughlan McQuarrie & Marian Dand, (in case you don't have this): William Harvey McQuarrie 18 Jun 1880 Male Grey - John McQuarrie & Marion Dand Sarah Estella McQuarrie 29 Aug 1882 Female Grey - John McQuarrie & Marian Dand John James McQuarrie 30 May 1885 Male Grey - John Laughlan McQuarrie & Marian David Charles Arthur McQuarrie 23 May 1888 Male Grey - John Laughlan McQuarrie & Marian Dand Thomas McQuarrie 26 Mar 1891 Male Grey - John L McQuarrie & Marion Dand .......... Ontario, Canada Marriages, 1857-1922 about Sarah E McQuarrie Name: Sarah E McQuarrie Birth Place: Tp Osprey Age: 16 Father Name: John McQuarrie Mother Name: Marion McQuarrie Estimated birth year: abt 1882 Spouse Name: Richard Redpath Spouse's Age: 27 Spouse Birth Place: Tp Melancthon Spouse Father Name: Thomas Redpath Spouse Mother Name : Annie Redpath Marriage Date: 22 Jun 1898 Marriage Place: Simcoe Marriage County: Simcoe Family History Library Microfilm: MS932_97 Source: Indexed by: Ancestry.com ......... So if Charles Arthur McQ died in 1943 he would have been about 55 years old and likely still working. As he joined the CEF in SK, then that is where he would have been returned to when his tour was finished. There isn't anything but bush and lakes in the neighbourhood of Sioux Lookout, so hard to know what kind of work he was doing. Perhaps he was a cook at a logging camp and perhaps also his CEF paper might help to find what kind of duty he had in WWI.
