I have a name problem I am trying to solve. I've always thought, from family, that my ggggrandmother's name was Margaret Adam born Glascow, Scotland. I received her daughter Christine Hedley's death and she lists her mother as Margaret Doherty of Scotland. What makes it worse is there is no marriage of Margaret Adam to David Johnston but there is one to Margaret Doherty on the IGI. Christine had two sisters. Mary and Jane. Mary's death register doesn't show her parents names. I need to find Jane's marriage. She wasn't married in 1869 when Mary got married as she was a witness signing Jane Johnstone. At Christine's wedding in 1872 she signed as Jane Henderson. Her family was living in Hamilton, Wentworth County, Ontario at the time. I need a marriage to verify she married a Henderson and then her death to see if she lists her mother's maiden name. Anyone that might be her would probably note Scottish and she was born ca 1842 in New Brunswick (the 1851 census says Lower Canada). Her witness would likely be either Mary Robinson or Christine Hedley. There is a possiblity one of her brothers, James, John or Thomas Johnston could also be witness. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Peggy Large UE "I'd rather die while I'm living than live while I'm dead" thanks to Jimmy Buffett!
