    3. Ok, Essequibo is a Town (and a river) in British Guyana, South America, so we are dealing with non-average British people here. I could not find another Essequibo. I cannot help but wonder what connection if any this family might have to the famous Dr. Charles Goring, born circa 1870, noted Medical Officer for Her Majesty's Prisons. Secondly, continuing breakdown the abbreviations ... L.A.H. (instead of L.A.K. which could have been a printing error) is the post-nominal "Licentiate of Apothecaries Hall" being part of The Worshipful Society of Apothecaries of London - which would make sense as well. Working with Pat's suggestions it could also be a "King's College" connection. I wonder what any Ley's family history notes might have to say about this daughter of Francis??? Any one know anything about the descendants of Francis Leys of Pickering? Cheers! J. I'd like to qualify for the readers what it stands for. M.R.C.S. does seem to be the Royal College of Surgeons in London. BTW - saw you on the Scott Thompson episode of "Who Do You Think You Are?" - well done. Someday I have to get to the Peel Co Archives to find traces of my Etobicoke ancestors! The K.C. could refer to "King's Counsel" if he was appointed during the pre Victorian period. It does not apply to "Knights of Columbus" as they were not founded until the 1880's. Cheers! Brian
