I didn't find Calvin on the 1851 Canada census so perhaps he had already moved to the US, or the census records for the place in Canada where he was living did not survive, or he is mis-indexed. I found a Samuel Powers in Northumberland, Ontario but his wife is listed as Mary. He was born abt 1799 in England..
