What it has is a lookup service for the CLRI (Land Records Index) and an explanation of land records in Ontario - what is available and how to find it For your John Roe, I suggest you find out what kind of grants he had Was it a hardship grant? Military grant? etc etc. So then you will know where to search next - possibly in land petitions or Canada Company Records or... As one subscriber suggested, you can also get the Abstract Indexes to Deeds but there are other records too such as Township Papers and more. So as tedious as it may be, you really need to go and read up on what land records are available, and how one goes about getting what is needed. http://olivetreegenealogy.com/can/ont/land.shtml will get you started.
