ARCHIVE AWARENESS WEEK IN CLARINGTON Our Archives holds the key to unlock many of the hidden treasures of our communitys history. Join Clarington Museums and Archives in celebrating its archives from Monday April 12th to Friday April 16th. The archives in Clarington holds the most extensive collection of local historically important papers, photographs and artifacts and we want people to know about it. Have you ever wondered why Orono is called Orono; or why King Street in Bowmanville runs on a northward angle to the west after passing Liberty Street; or whats that monument about in downtown Newtonville? We can provide the key to unlock the answers to these historical questions and much more. Our archives are also a valuable resource in investigating your own family history. During Clarington Archive Awareness Week, we are waiving our usual research fees and allowing visitors to use the archives for free. This is a great time to introduce yourself to the archives or to continue your research projects. This offer is only open to researchers who visit the archives in person. To take advantage of this free offer please call ahead (905-623-2734) to book your appointment with the Archivist. Visit us during Archives Awareness Week and discover the mysteries of Clarington!
