There was quite a gold rush in Marathon in the late 70's / early 80's and although there would have been lots of new folks moving in to staff up the support businesses, most of the new arrivals were employed by the 3 mines that started up. There has been a shrinkage of the population since the 2000's so if you can't find your folks in the current or old phone books of that era maybe place an ad in whatever Canadian mining weeklies or monthlies there are that list mines that are currently hiring. Most miners keep an eye on those to keep tabs on opportunities. Good luck.
