Catherine: I have a book Cobden Then & Now By George Wallace. The article title McCoy's Hotel is as follows This hotel was situated on the northern side of Main Street just west of of the rail tracks . In 1880 and 1881 John McCoy was listed as a hotel keeper in Cobden. He was born in Canada in 1847 and came to Renfrew Co. in 1873. The hotel suffered the fate of many of the early businesses in Cobden by burning down. This happened in April 1926.According to The Cobden Sun of that date the flames spread so quickly that the occupants fled with out their personal belongings. The wife of the hotel keeper (Mrs. Mallard) and the two maids escaped through a window. The hotel and contents were a complete loss. Catherine, The answer might be "The Cobden Sun" newspaper. Check the holdings at the Archives of Ontario. Depending where you live, the Toronto Reference Library also has microfilm copies of some of the Ontario various newspapers.
