    3. Hi Ellen - Perhaps another long , hard struggle in the future . * We need to elect, select - Genealogist to some positions that are important to us. Future family research - will be more difficult - as time goes by. Family situations are so very different - than when our Grandparents/ Parents - were alive. So many broken marriages - or liasons - how are future generations ever going to be able to find their place in family history. At least with a Census - they have a place. Cheers. 3. Sher where my husband is buried in Combermere Ontario they have a section roped off for the scattering of ashes. People can then have their name added to a plaque signifying whose ashes have been scattered there if they so desire. I understand that there are other cemeteries who have scattering sections within. It is so common for people to keep urns of dear ones in their home for an indefinite time and some take them to their cottage and scatter them there on the lake, river etc. or just leave them in their home and pass them on to other family members with no burial at all taking place and the ashes once again sitting on a mantel or in the closet. 3. Hi Verna, Yes - that could be a problem - except that there will still be Registration of Death. [hopefully available at some point ] as well at least some obituaries will be published. Without a Cemetery plot - searches are more difficult - but - some people do place ashes in niches at the cemeteries. When I did volunteer work at couple of schools - there were so many children - from broken marriages -single parents . With the modern arrangements - there are children that are related to their mothers - but not always to their siblings . They may only be able to research - their maternal side - if interested - unless contact is kept with the paternal side. Some children carry surnames - that are not their birth surnames - and may never know . Stella At 03:35 AM 30/06/2010, V.M.
