    1. [ONTARIO] Skog/Skoog

    3. Hi everyone, All of a sudden this long term brick wall is falling and I need some help. Prior to now several of you have looked for Conrad Hugo Skog/Skoog in Ontario. I have narrowed the time he was there to his ship manifest in 1893 and one city directory listing in Ottawa 1895. This is under Skoog. His daughter, my gr. grandmother, Constance Skog is listed separately with one 'o' in her surname. I know that Constance, her brothers John, Axel, Conrad Fred and sister Agnes were in Boston in 1899 when Constance married Richard Krebs. I have traced all of them once in the USA. 1910 census lists mother, Christina Skoog as a widow. Does anyone have access to any kind of death records or other city directories that might help me find out what happened to the father, Conrad Hugo after that 1895 listing? Do you have any suggestions for how I can find this one elusive ancestor? Thanks, Diane

    3. Did you check for a burial? http://ocfa.islandnet.com/ocfa-search.php There is a George Watt and also a Jane Campbell buried at the cemetery named "McDonald's Corners" in Lanark Co. Dalhousie Township. There is an entry on LDS Family Search indicating that George Watt Jr., husband of Jane Campbell, died on 27 Oct 1886 in Lanark Co. They would appear to be the same family listed in the 1881 Canada Census - http://www.familysearch.org/eng/search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=census/search_census.asp Cheers! I now have a problem as I can't prove who his grandfather was. It lists his parents as Geo. Watt and Jeanette. Jeanette is with Jane Watt (Campbell) in the 1901 census. However I can't find George at all no info nothing. > > Dan Walker > > *********** > Ten People All Genealogists Should Follow On Twitter: > http://www.geneabloggers.com/ten-people-genealogists-follow-twitter/ > > Search Ontario Genealogy & Resources at http://olivetreegenealogy.com/can/ont/ > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to ONTARIO-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    3. The poular series (Who do you think you are?) returns to NBC beginning Friday Feb. 3, at 8:00 p.m. local time. As usual a variety of people with public profiles have agreeed to have their ancestry and family history investigated: Martin Rob Lowe, Helen Hunt, Reba McEntire, Blair Underwood, Eddie Falco, Rashida Jones, Jerone Bettis, Paula Deen, Jason Sudeikis and Martin Sheen ... PBS will be offering another season of "Finding your Roots with Henry Louis Gates, Jr." beginning Sunday March 25, at 8:00 pm and the line-up includes: Barbara Walters, Robert Downey Jr., Martha Stewart, John Legend, Branford Marsalis, Rick Warren, and Kevni Bacon. The great thing about both these shows is that they show that not all family history and genealogy can done done by searching computer datatbases - rather that is only part of the process. The popularity of these episodes is also due in part to the viewer not only learns about new resources to use in thier own searching but there is also the "wow factor" in being shown Archives, Libraries and research facilities around the world that hold the irreplacebale documents of human history. Let me suggest something to consider: Many of us belong to "book clubs" - so why not invite a couple of genealogy buddies over for dinner and what it as a group and discuss the results over dessert after the end of the show ... So get the dinner dishes done, put the answeing machine on, sit down with a beverage of choice and enjoy! J. Brian Gilchrist

    3. I want to thank those of you who helped get the Herbert William Watt marriage.  I now have a problem as I can't prove who his grandfather was. It lists his parents as Geo. Watt and Jeanette.  Jeanette is with Jane Watt (Campbell) in the 1901 census.  However I can't find George at all no info nothing. Dan Walker
