    1. [ONTARIO] Toronto Western Nursing archives?
    2. harvieandliz
    3. hi folks, I have a DOROTHY RICHARDSON who graduated from nursing at Toronto Western Hospital in 1932 and at her 10th nursing reunion in 1942 was "Dorothy Richardson Carr"; in 1932 Dorothy travelled to Europe and on her return the ship's list gave age as 19 years. That might "fit" MY Dorothy Richardson who was likely born in late 1913 in Victoria BC to William Richardson. I am trying to find the following: Archives of Toronto Western Hospital School of Nursing and marriage of Dorothy Richardson to unknown Carr around 1937-1942. Toronto Directories have her "nurse" likely single as "Richardson", in 1937 Directory. The definite "facts" are from THESTAR/pagesofthepast. Her marriage tho did not show up there. Also searched "deaths" for "Dorothy Carr" with no luck so far. I would appreciate your help, liz of BC

    3. Morning everyone ... The Gkobe and Mail is digitzed, and is in a similiar format to searching The Toronto Star "Pages of the Past". The Toronto Telegram is not online: it is poorly microfilmed (and for some years the classifieds were not filmed - and it was the classifieds pages that included the births, marriages and deaths .... grrrrrrrr!). However I havce heard that there a "plans" to have it digitized (but from the microfilm grrrrr again!!! The Telegram needs to be re-microfilmed from the originals - if indeed they still exist and were not destroyed after the microfilming. . Finally the Copyright to the Toronto Telegram is currently owned by Corporation that owns the Toronto Sun. ----- Original Message ----- From: "V.M. This is the 1871 "Anna M" is missing off the 1881 and then "Francis E" is on the 1881 with the family but can't find any trace of him after that. I have heard stories that he returned to England. 2. harvieandliz
    3. hi, I have tried "TheStar /pages of the past" for marriages and deaths of Dorothy or Betty or William Richardson with no success for years 1930-1970. I read lots of notices but not them! so, I must conclude that the family did not advertise in The Star. Are there other newspapers with Archives that can be searched for marriages and deaths? I think they might have advertised because one birth was entered in a Victoria paper for 1919. William Richardson [born 1887] lived in Toronto [Castelfield ave] from at least 1928 up to 1955 and was not there in 1960. I am trying to narrow this final period down, but could not find a death notice for him. What about Globe & Mail or the Telegram? any websites for their archives? How do I go about asking Service Ontario to search a 5 year period for death? about 1960? His 2 daughters might have married...first tho, I will try to find them living independently in Toronto about 1936-1940. thanks liz of BC

    3. THANK YOU, Doreen. I didn't know that was possible. I will do so. And thanks so much for the info you sent me on doing research in NS. I wanted to wait and contact you with some good news. As usual, life is getting in the way of my genealogy research and it will be at least Saturday before I get back to it. I do very much appreciate your help. Since I know that John Wilson was Quaker, I cam also running down the Quaker records for South Carolina. I am going to prove the answer of his birth one way or another. :-) Dee ----- Original Message ----- From: "D O'" <devaney2004@hotmail.com> To: <ontario@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, January 20, 2012 1:06 AM Subject: Re: [ONTARIO] Medical Records - London, Ontario Hospital > > > You could contact them and ask how much it would cost for whatever > specific records you want. > > http://www.archives.gov.on.ca/english/index.aspx > > Doreen > * > > > >> From: dees.genealogy@gmail.com >> To: ontario@rootsweb.com >> Date: Fri, 20 Jan 2012 00:32:19 -0600 >> Subject: [ONTARIO] Medical Records - London, Ontario Hospital >> >> Hello Listers, >> >> Can someone tell me what it costs to get copies of records from the >> archives? 3. Many years ago when I helped list people at various addresses in the City of Toronto, all residents living in the house were listed along with their occupation which was listed in the pink section of the directory. The pink lists were used by insurance companies and others to solicit business. V.M. Burness ----- Original Message ----- From: "J. 2. Always be careful when looking at old city directories. Often street numbers and even names were changed as areas were built up or city boundries changed. Check cross streets and neighbours to make sure you looking at the right location. I've been fooled more than once myself. Early directories ( published by more than one company)often used their own numbering system distinct from what the city used and that can lead to confusion as well. Nelson Denton
