Find the August papers, you may also need the July ones considering the death date was Aug 1. >From The Ottawa Citizen, Aug 2, 1939, page 4: ROSS – At a local hospital on Tuesday, August 1, 1939, Charles Ross, beloved husband of Ada Oakman, in his 60th year. Funeral from the parlors of AE Veitch & Son, Parkdale Ave at Gladstone on Friday, Aug 4. Time later. Interment Pinecrest cemetery. Also check the Aug 3rd newspaper as there may be more info in that obit as I assume they would have put another one in on that day as they said that they would announce the time. These newspapers are NOT name-searchable as they seem to only have OCR'd the headlines, not the entire pages. The papers of that time don't seem to have been too long so you can enlarge each page using the + sign above each one, and read the articles to see if there is a story on the fire. If the fire occurred in late July, read those, too. Also, in future, you can email the Ottawa Public Library reference section and they will look for obits, one or two at a time, if you have the death or burial date for them to search by. I have found him in the 1871 Census of Ontario, he is said to be born Ireland about 1817, which matches the above index. He is stated to be married, and is a Presbyterian. His wife is jane aged 40, born Ontario, and their children are Ann Eliza 14, William J 11, Thomas Jas 9, Catharine M 8, and Emily 4, all born Ontario. The question is, is the family of Nixey an accurate transcription? I have no Nixey's yet in Ireland that early on, 1817, and so far I've not found the family in any later censuses. Hello Mary: The Canadian Gravemarker Gallery is a free-access site which hosts over 580,000 grave marker photos. When you click on the "Main Search Engine" button it brings up the search engine, PLUS instructions for selecting a keyword. When you read the instructions you will see that the photos are named by using the alphabet and a numerical suffix. To try it.......use the keyword.......pletsch*.......! It will bring up my parents marker and my marker in North Bay.. We do not have all of the Ontario cemeteries online.....only 1,100 are completely photographed, of the 5,000 at this point. Maud Muller Wilson died in Toronto died of something like burst anerorism or stroke or heart attack, between 1945 and 1952 in her home somewhere in Toronto. Henry or Andrew Wilson was her husband whom I think died before that of some cause like blood poisoning? Is there a death certificate for each of them available on line Please. Death certificates for this time frame are only available through the Ontario Registrar General for a fee. When requesting death certificates, purchase the long form and request the medical certificate as well.
