Ancestry is advertising that it will be on there on April 2 so if you subscribe you will be able to access it. Dawn

There area lot of transcribers registered that will jump on it and help transcribe the census once it is released. Easier to do than some of the lists available for transcription at the present time. Just get your friends and family to register at family search.org who are always in need of transcribers. Yes it will be available April 2, but only to search by location, not by name. This is what Family search say's “Unlike previous census years, images of the 1940 U.S. Federal Census will be made available as free digital images.” On April 2, 2012, NARA will provide access to the images of the 1940 United States Federal Census for the first time. Hello List I was wondering if anyone could tell me if there is a website that one could find the city directories for Brampton Ontario back say about 1948 to 1980. Also are there directories for those who would have been farmers say 1911 to 1950 for the same area. Any help would be oh so greatly appreciated. Sharon

Hi Liz: I guess I've been lucky to have ancestors in the "cheap" counties!!! None of my people brought records with them to Ontario, either that or they were all tossed out when their kids cleaned out their houses! That's more like it! I seldom use ancestry - If I have good decade after decade census records, and we do here in Ontario, then I simply order from the information I glean from them. It usually works. One time I wasn't sure which certs to order because there were two fellows called James (cousins of the same age) and they both married a Mary Ann. which one do I choose? I couldn't afford two certs at that time, so I e-mailed the record office, told them my dilemma and they told me which was the right one! Saved me a few bucks! I was very happy! I sometimes think its who you talk to over there that makes the difference.
