    3. If this couple's marriage isn't in the County MArriage register then check church records. The Lutheran Church in early Preston was called Christ Church and was renamed St Peter's. There is microfilm of several registers of this church (St Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church) in the archives of Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo. http://libserve.wlu.ca/archives/pdf/Synod.pdf Cambridge, St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston LM4 Microfilm records Reel 1 Books 1 - 7 Book 1 . 3. Rosina Friedrich Brighton was born in the USA Jan 1861 according to the census records. Her immigration date t o Canada is 1863. Her death registration from 1926 says she was born in Cinncinatti. I'm unable to find them in the 1860 census. The photographers and/or organizations are given credit on the website for their dedication and hard work. * 2. The Canadian Gravemarker Gallery is the oldest and largest website displaying "ONLY COMPLETELY PHOTOGRAPHED" cemeteries in Canada. This non-sponsored, free-access National Site is proud to announce that we are in our 13th year of operation. * 3. If you have family or friends ANYWHERE in Canada, who may be interested in photographing their local cemeteries, please inform them of the availability of The *Canadian Gravemarker Gallery*. Their COMPLETELY PHOTOGRAPHED cemeteries will have world wide exposure on this free-access National Cemetery Photograph website. * 4. If you and/or your organization are interested in your local cemeteries going online, please contact us at: info@gravemarkers.ca - there are no cemeteries too big or too small. They will be placed online at absolutely no cost to you...! * 5. A comprehensive "Tips and Hints" brochure in English or French is available. To help volunteers get started photographing entire Canadian cemeteries a copy of the brochure will be sent via email to all interested folks. * * SUBSCRIBING TO THE WEBSITE UPDATES HTML NEWSLETTER. ************************************************* * Don't miss future monthly updates. Subscribe to the automatic Canadian Gravemarker Gallery's HTML Newsletter which has "hot links" to the new cemeteries. Please go to the Website at: http://www.gravemarkers.ca and click on the "JOIN UPDATES NEWSLETTER" button located just above the weather row. * * HELPFUL HINTS - SUMMARY. ********************** * 1. Tracing female ancestors. Cemeteries online have spousal duplicated photographs. This means a photo of a stone which also has the spouse's maiden name showing, is duplicated and when one searches using the onboard search engine, for a surname, the spouse's surname will be reported as a separate "search result". * 2. Cemetery records. Over the past 13 years this website has been instrumental in breaking down many researchers' brick walls. In addition, many folks have travelled to cemeteries which are onboard, to "walk" the cemeteries. Please note that on some cemeteries we have included the "record holders" contact information for the township, town or city cemetery. * 3. Missing cemeteries. If you don't see a Community and its' cemeteries online...it means we have not photographed the cemeteries in that area. Would you or some of your family or friends be interested in helping out by photographing your local cemeteries.? * * FEEDBACK ******* * We are always interested in feedback from Visitors to the website. If you have any questions or suggestions to improve the *Canadian Gravemarker Gallery* please do not hesitate to send your comments, concerns or suggestions to us at: info@gravemarkers.ca * * ********************************************* * Best Regards....Murray P l e t s c h * Cdn Gravemarker Gallery - http://gravemarkers.ca * *********************************************

    1. [ONTARIO] Searching for Harry Aitken(s)
    2. Brian & Alison Smith
    3. A contact in Scotland is trying to find information about a Harry Aitken(s) who lived in Toronto.  His Canadian army service in WW2 took him to Scotland, but he probably returned to Canada in 1945/1946.  Unfortunately there are no clues as to his age, but a birthdate of 1920 plus or minus 5 years seems likely.  While in Scotland, he would have been based in Aberdeenshire or Banffshire.  It may be that he had roots in the Banff/Portsoy area of Scotland. Any suggestions for tracking him down would be most welcome. Alison Smith

    3. Hello Rita: If you haven't already checked them out, these place name sites may help: 1. Canadian Geographical Names: http://www4.nrcan.gc.ca/earth-sciences/geography-boundary/geographical-name/search/name.php You can search using wildcards * so try o* or oc* or o*mah or ok* or wolf and lots of place names will come up for you to consider. Wolf Head came up for Newfoundland and Labrador. 2. Ontario Locator: http://www.geneofun.on.ca/ontariolocator/ I also suggest that you give some names and dates of whom you are searching for and where you found them on the census or other sources so that others can take a stab at helping you out. Good wishes on your search. Ogemah, Michigan? -----Original Message----- From: ontario-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:ontario-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Rita Chernoff Sent: Wednesday, April 25, 2012 10:05 AM To: ontario@rootsweb.com Subject: [ONTARIO] Ontario Counties Can anyone tell me if "Ocomah Co" is is Ontario? I can find an "Okemah County" in Oklahoma but I'm looking for something in Ontario or Quebec (Canada Bas?). I'm not sure that's the correct spelling but that's how it's recorded on a marriage record I have. I can find an "Oconto" in Frontenac County but I'm not sure this is the right place. Supposedly the mother of the bride lived around "Wolf's Head" which I believe is around Lake Superior but then there is a "Wolfe's Island" near Kingston which I believe is in Frontenac County. My Ontario geography is terrible so any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
