    3. Thank you to Mary and Heather who have cleared up any question I had about my grandparents marriage record. Now I have to find out if they ever had their marriage blessed in the Church, and if so where. My father and his sister were both baptized in the Catholic Church and that would not have happened if the marriage did not take place in Church or was not blessed later by a priest. The reason I'm trying to find this out is that information given by my Grandfather on this registration does not match information I have from other sources and I'm trying to determine if he was simply mistaken or lying. Thank you all again for your help. Elaine

    3. The image that you get on ancestry.ca is the same one that is available at either the National or the Ontario Archives. You might be able to get church information from the clergyman's name on the registration BUT if they were married in Windsor there is very large chance that they were married by a JP. 1. [ONTARIO] birth registration request
    2. Elizabeth Hamilton
    3. Hello, I am looking for some kind soul to do me a huge favour. I am wanting the birth registration for Emelie Bruneau, b January 12, 1845 Ontario. I have made several attempts to acquire birth, marriage and death registrations for her. I have only been successful with the marriage so far. On my second attempt at her death I was denied without proof of her birth. Emelie was born in Ontario but her marriage and death took place in Quebec. Quebec is quite strict about releasing information (this is not a criticism but a statement) which is why this has been so difficult. I live in BC and I am not sure how to go about getting the birth proof for Ontario. I am willing to pay for photocopying and mailing, or if someone is willing to do a trade I can do BMD lookups in BC as well as newspapers in Nanaimo and Victoria. If you can help please contact me offlist at quail.ridge@shaw.ca Thank you for your time. Elizabeth Hamilton

    1. [ONTARIO] Flora Polson and William Herbert Smith
    2. Genge Family
    3. I wonder if any of the members of this list would be able to help me trace the death and burial place of this relative. FLORA POLSON, born 11 December 1882 at Marrel, Sutherlandshire, Scotland, daughter of William Polson and Annie Allan. She emigrated to Canada in 1908 on the ship IONIAN and worked in London, Ontario for Mr and Mrs Thomas Baker. (Information on the 1911 Canadian census) She married WILLIAM HERBERT SMITH on 6 September 1911 at London, Ontario. (Marriage affidavit). According to information I have from her niece, Flora made a trip back to Scotland in the 1920s/early 1930s (it may have been when her mother died in 1922 or when her father died in 1934). Her niece was born in 1922 says this visit was "when I was very young" so I am basing the dates on this information. I am fairly certain Flora died in Canada, but cannot find her death date or where she is buried. Flora's sister JESSIE (JANET) POLSON followed to Canada in 1909 and they both worked for the Baker family. Jessie was married in 1913 to GEORGE ROOME and they lived in Buffalo, USA. Jessie died there in 1949. Can anyone help? Thanks Adair Polson-Genge Aotearoa/New Zealand

    3. Flora Smith doesn't appear in the Ontario Cemetery Finding Aid (OCFA). London-Middlesex county Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society has done a good job indexing Middlesex County cemeteries. Since she doesn't appear, she either had no marker or she moved somewhere else. There are 2 border crossings for Jessie Roome in 1915 from Toronto to Buffalo through Lewiston NY. This looks to be your Jessie - husband in Buffalo, name George W., Physical description of Jessie - hand off at wrist. But it also says for both times that there were no relatives in country from which she came. This must mean Flora maybe also moved to US. 3. Good Morning: As this couple were in their late 20's when they married in 1911, there is a good chance that they did not die before 1932 which is the last available date of death registrations on Ancestry.ca I did search Ancestry, and while there are many persons named Flora Smith, none matched the date or location of birth as your Flora Polson. I also checked death registrations for William Herbert Smith with a birth year of about 1884; again there were many who fit the name, but none who fit. You might try visiting the LDS near you and checking for more current death registrations on microfilms. 3. Hi Adair I checked the Ontario Cemetery Finding Aid page at http://www.islandnet.com/ocfa/homepage.html Smith is a very common name, so entered William Hebert Smith and found one reference at Greenwood Ridgetown Cemetery County-Kent Township-Howard Reference # KT-642-7 Using the same info, I checked for a Flora in the same cemetery, county and township and found a Flora. It could be coincidence, but it is something to start with. You could check out the Community of Chatham-Kent web page http://www.chatham-kent.ca/community+services/living+in+chatham-kent/cemeteries/Cemetery+Locations+and+Genealogy.htm They say they do take email enquiries that take time to process and research. As well, you could contact Kent Branch, Ontario Genealogical Society at http://www.ogskent.on.ca/ I believe you could purchase transcripts from them. Hope this helps and I do hope this couple is indeed the couple you are researching.
